Key Highlights of the Panda North Experience
Panda North distinguishes itself in the local dining landscape through several key attributes that contribute to its reputation for quality and service. These elements combine to create a dining environment that is both sophisticated and approachable:
Dual Culinary Expertise: The restaurant expertly navigates the complexities of both Chinese and Japanese menus. This means patrons can enjoy the savory depth of Szechuan specialties one moment and the clean, umami-rich flavors of traditional Japanese fare the next. This breadth of offering caters effectively to groups with varied preferences, making dining decisions simpler and more satisfying for everyone at the table.
Commitment to Freshness and Quality: Central to the Japanese culinary philosophy is the unwavering focus on ingredient quality, particularly concerning seafood. Panda North upholds this standard, ensuring that the components used in their sushi and sashimi preparations meet rigorous freshness criteria. Similarly, Chinese dishes benefit from the use of vibrant, high-quality vegetables and meats, enhancing the overall flavor profile of every plate served.
Accessible Location and Ambiance: Situated conveniently at 1332 Putney Rd, the restaurant is easily reachable for a quick lunch or a relaxed evening dinner. The interior design thoughtfully balances elements that evoke both cultures, creating an environment that feels both traditional and contemporary. It is a setting conducive to casual family meals, intimate dinners, or business gatherings, prioritizing guest comfort throughout the dining process.
Dedicated Preparation Standards: The kitchen staff at Panda North adheres strictly to established preparation methods unique to each cuisine. For Chinese dishes, this involves mastering techniques like stir-frying at high heat (wok hei) to achieve optimal texture and flavor. For Japanese items, the emphasis is on precision cutting, temperature control, and artistic plating, showcasing the chef's technical skill and respect for the ingredients.
These combined strengths ensure that Panda North is not merely a place to eat, but a destination where culinary traditions are honored and celebrated through exceptional execution.

This was the worst food I have had in life. Maybe it was the time of day, but the spareribs were dried out, the shrimp was chewy and there was essentially no flavor to any of our meals. The staff were wonderful! More

Great authentic Chinese and Japanese food in Vermont.
I loved how they quickly served everything hot and neat.
BUT one concern is their "Sweet and Sour Chicken" was horrible. I couldn't eat a piece and I wasn't asked by my server, as to how is everything going - so I chose to keep it silent and shared food with my wife instead.
Other than that one thing, I recommend this place, the ambience is impressive.

Feels a bit more authentic as a Chinese restaurant than Panasian, but a bit more run-down building. I think we got a better selection of Szechuan shredded beef, tofu with bean sprouts, cold noodle with sesame sauce and wonton soup.
Overall, lucky to have this place in Brattleboro and obviously they have to cater to the demographic of folks here so I won't be too hard.
Good - Sesame cold noodles was great! Shredded beef was also quite nice
Hard Pass - Wonton soup - pretty horrible wonton and the soup wasn't hot.
Ok - Tofu with bean sprouts - there was not enough tofu in the dish and it was extremely salty yet tasteless

A Family Favorite is Panda North!
Our family absolutely loves dining at Panda North near Brattleboro, near Exit 3 on 91. It's truly a gem for delicious Chinese and Japanese cuisine, and it's become our go-to spot for takeout or a wonderful meal out.
From the moment you step in, the atmosphere is so welcoming and comfortable – perfect for families with kids of all ages. The staff is always incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everyone feels right at home. We've always experienced prompt and efficient service, even on busier nights.
